Cummings is an unincorporated community in Traill County, North Dakota in the United States. It is named for Henry Cumings, an early employee of the Great Northern Railway. Originally spelled with one "m" like that of its namesake, the name of the town was misspelled so often that the post office department eventually legitimized the mistake by adding the extra "m".[1]
