"Crystallize" is a song by Australian recording artist Kylie Minogue. It was written by Minogue, Dev Hynes and Scott Hoffman (Babydaddy from the Scissor Sisters) during the Kiss Me Once recording sessions, but was not included on the final album. It was felt that the song did not fit stylistically on the album, but as the song meant a lot to Minogue, she decided to use it to raise money for the "One Note Against Cancer" charity. eBay users were able to buy notes from the song, with all proceeds raised being donated to the charity. Winning bidders received a signed certificate from Minogue and a download link to the song itself. The song was also released to iTunes in the UK and the rest of the world on 9 June 2014, with Australian fans able to purchase it a few days later.
Musically, the song has been compared to Minogue's earlier songs "I Believe in You", "The One" and "White Diamond".
Background
Following the release of Kiss Me Once, it was announced that Minogue would release a single in aid of "One Note Against Cancer". eBay listings were placed so users could buy notes. Once bidding had ended the winning bidders were sent a certificate signed by Minogue and a link to download the song.
Music video
The accompanying music video for "Crystallize" was released on 26 May 2014. Simplistic in itself, the video features a young girl dancing alone in her bedroom to the song. The actress is seen singing in front of a mirror, then dancing and singing into a hairbrush, before walking into another room and dancing with four male dancers. Minogue is shown singing the song in scenes intercut into the video.
All the winning bidders names are shown at the end of the video. The video currently has 1.6 million views on YouTube.
