Crystallia Riga (Greek: Κρυσταλλία Ρήγα) (born in Piraeus, Greece), better known as simply Crystallia, (sometimes spelled Krystallia) is a Greek singer, pianist, and musician.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Early life
Crystallia was born and raised in Piraeus. She studied French literature, fashion design, classical piano, and plays amateur bass. From an early age, she participated in various bands.
Career
2006: Beginning of career
Crystillia began her professional career in 2006, when she appeared alongside Marinella and Antonis Remos. She has also worked with well-known pianist and conductor Andrew Boutsikaki to develope her artistic repertoire.
2009–2012: OtherView
From 2009 to 2012, she was a member of the band OtherView, which released a full album and three digital singles. The group played with popular artists such as John Plutarch and made appearances at well-known places, such as Cosmostage. In the summer of 2011 and 2012, the group went on tour and received positive responses from the public. They were awarded for Best Dance Video Clip to the song, "I'm The One," for the year 2012. During this period, Crystallia received recognition from the public.
2012–present: Solo career and Eurosong 2014 – a MAD show
In the fall of 2012, Crystallia left OtherView and began a solo career. [7] In 2013 she performed along with Onirama in Gotham City, Stage[8] and released her first solo single, titled "Kimolia"[9]
In the spring of the same year, she participated as a contestant on the first series television program on ANT1, Your Face Sounds Familiar> She received positive reviews for her appearances and performances and achieved the third place.[10][11]
On the 28th of February 2014, it was announced that Crystallia was going to participate in "Eurosong 2014 - a MAD show", a competition designed to select the Greek participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.[12] On the 4th of March, her song was revealed as "Petalouda Stin Athina" (Butterfly in Athens) [13] and was presented along with the other three candidate songs on 5 March 2014.[14]
