Croydon Fire Company #1 was established in 1918 in Croydon, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. They are a 100% volunteer organization providing fire protection, medical and marine help to the community. They currently have 7 pieces of apparatus and 3 chief cars.

History

In 1918 the people of Croydon, Pennsylvania decided that they needed added fire protection in their community so the Croydon Home Improvement Association was born. At the time the department was locales at Excelsior and Maryland Avenues in Croydon.

In 1924 the Association purchased land at the corner of State Road and Patterson Avenue. This became the new home for the department. Also in 1924 the Association received its charter from the state, changing their name to Croydon Fire Company #1.

In the 1950s the company purchased land at the adjacent corner of State and Patterson and built a new 3 bay building. In the 1980s they bought the next door property at the corner of Cristy Avenue and State Road, expanding the property from Patterson to Christy Avenue.

In 1998 an expansion and remodeling of the existing building took place, becoming a 5 bay building, and new offices were added in the old building.

Today the department has 1 2000 Eone pumper, 1 Eone 75' rear mount ladder truck with pump 1 1986 Mack Cf baker pumper, 1 2001 Ford F550 field truck, 2 boats and 1 traffic unit. They also own 2 Ford Explorer chief vehicles and 1 Dodge Durango chief vehicle.
