Cross Ash (Welsh: Croes Onnen) is a village in Monmouthshire, south east Wales. It is located on the B4521 Ross-on-Wye to Abergavenny road, some six miles north east of Abergavenny.
History and amenities
Cross Ash is situated in the north of Monmouthshire. Nearby are the "three castles of Gwent",[1] White Castle, Skenfrith Castle and Grosmont Castle.
Cross Ash has a primary school which serves an extensive surrounding rural area.[2]
The Welsh language name, Croes Onnen, is a translation of the English language name.[3] In 2011 Cross Ash was one of two villages in Monmouthshire to have the Welsh name of the village removed from the local road signs in response to a protest by villagers.[4]
