Crimsonland is a top-down computer game with RPG elements.[1] It was developed by 10tons Entertainment and published by Reflexive Entertainment in 2003.[2] The game was re-released on Steam in 2014 with updates to graphics, perks, weapons and enemies.

Gameplay

Upon the beginning player is placed in the middle of a game location with a weapon, health points and zero experience. The screen is gradually filled with different monsters. Getting a large amount of kills, character earns experience, levels up and gets rewarded with perks such as faster reloading, extra speed and so on.[3]

Game modes

The game features four game modes. In Quest mode, player wins if he overcomes a large number of monsters. In Rush mode, gamer gains victory once he manages to survive as long as possible fighting off crowds of monsters. Survival mode fields a mixture of two previous scenarios: player kills monsters and acquires experience points to obtain perks.[4] In Typ’o’Shooter mode player can't move. Monsters appear with written words above them. In order to shoot slowly advancing aliens, player has to type out tricky words and odd combinations. There is a secret bonus mode (puzzle mode), developers never said if completing the puzzle led to something.
