Creative Secondary School
Creative Secondary School (CSS) is a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) and Semi-International school in Hong Kong, which opened in September 2006. The use of English in school is a very important aspect in CSS. It encourages its students to live in a harmonized community with people having different cultural backgrounds as the school has a number of foreign teachers and students.
Information
It offers both Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE), the standard educational curriculum in Hong Kong, the IB Middle Years Program and the IB Diploma a two-part international educational program. It was one of the first schools to offer such a dual curriculum in Hong Kong.[1] In 2009, the school won the Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind competition, and represented Hong Kong at the world competition.[2]
Founding Principal
Mr.Cheung Siu Ming is the founding Principal of Creative Secondary School. He attended St Joseph's College in Hong Kong, received his first degree and teaching qualification at the University of Bristol, and an MA in Education from the Open University (UK). He taught in UK secondary schools and served as an adviser in Lambeth Education Department in London before returning to Hong Kong in 1994 to join the English Schools Foundation as Deputy Principal of West Island School, the only International School to achieve the EMB's QEF Outstanding School Award. In 2001 the ESF appointed him as Principal of Phoenix International School. He has been a tutor for the OUHK's MEd programme.[3]
