Crash Boom Bang is an American pop rock band based in Northern Virginia. The band members include two brothers, Mauricio Rivero and Raul Rivero, as well as Omar Ruiz and Chaucer Hwang. They have been featured in several notable productions and publications, such as Alternative Press and MTV’s The City.

History

The name Crash Boom Bang originates from a “tentative lyric in one of [their] songs,”[1] that lead singer Omar Ruiz suggested become the band’s name. In the band’s eyes, the name Crash Boom Bang, was fitting because they “wanted something memorable that could describe [their] music at the same time."[1] Crash Boom Bang is not taken from Roxette’s song “Crash! Boom! Bang!” Raul Rivero, bassist, and Mauricio Rivero, drummer, are brothers. The two attended J.E.B. Stuart High School, located in Falls Church, Virginia.[2] Chaucer Hwang was originally from Florida, but has lived in Northern Virginia for around 10 years.[2] Lead singer, Omar Ruiz, attended McLean High School.

Crash Boom Bang is friends with the popular band, Plain White T’s. Mauricio Rivero has known lead singer, Tom Higgenson, since before Plain White T’s achieved widespread fame.[3] Higgenson invited the band to appear for a few shows on the Plain White T’s tour in 2007, the Every Second Counts Tour.[4] Crash Boom Bang shared a stage with Plain White T’s during 2008-2009, as well as Mayday Parade. While performing/touring with Plain White T’s, Higgenson produced Crash Boom Bang’s first full-length album, Gold Rush.[4] However, Crash Boom Bang is currently not signed to a record label.

Musical style and influence

Crash Boom Bang has cited being fans of artists with a wide variety, including Guns N’ Roses, Maroon 5, and Lady Gaga.[1] Their music is self-described as “if Bruno Mars fronted Cobra Starship."[1] They have also been described as similar to the likes of Plain White T’s, Boys Night Out, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.[4]
