Craiova Airport (IATA: CRA, ICAO: LRCV) is located in south-western part of Romania, 7 km (4.3 mi) east[1] of Craiova municipality, one of Romania's largest cities. The airport region is the headquarters of Avioane Craiova SA (formerly known as IRAv Craiova), the company which built the Romanian IAR-93 and IAR-99 aircraft.

History

A new terminal was opened at Craiova airport in December 2010.[4]

Since July 2014 Craiova Airport is base for Wizz Air. A new Airbus A320-200 arrived on Craiova International Airport and serves 6 destinations in 4 countries: Italy - Rome Ciampino with 2 weekly flights, Bologna with 2 weekly flights and Milan Bergamo with 4 weekly flights; Spain - Barcelona with 2 weekly flights; Germany - Dortmund with 3 weekly flights; United Kingdom - London Luton with 3 weekly flights.

Ground transportation

The airport is well connected by City. RAT Craiova's Bus route Nr. 9 has a station in front of Airport (Schedule: every 30 mins between 5:30 and 21:30 Monday to Friday; every 30 mins between 6:30 and 20:30 Saturday and Sunday). The tickets cand be bought inside the bus and costs 2,5 Lei ( 0,60 €). This bus route connects Airport with "Electroputere Parc", Faculty of Law, Central Market, City Center (University) and Craiovita Noua (the biggest neighborhood with 100.000 residents). Another way to reach in the city is TAXI. One kilometer costs 1,49 Lei so for a trip between airport and Craiova Railway Station, Craiova Bus Station or city center you'll not pay more than 10 Lei.
