Craig Russell (born 16 June 1977) is an English actor, writer, producer who is known for his film & television work.
Background
Craig Russell was born in Lewisham, South London and raised in Cwmtwrch, a village in the Upper Swansea Valley in South Wales. He attended Maesydderwen Comprehensive School with fellow actors Eve Myles, Steven Meo and Richard Corgan.
Acting
Craig has worked on stage and screen including the feature films One Way, alongside Michael Clarke Duncan and Til Schweiger, Anazapta alongside Lena Headey and Jason Flemyng, Screwed alongside James D'arcy, Noel Clarke, Frank Harper and Kate Magowan and in Marc Price's 2009 award winning Zombie film Colin. In 2014 Craig will be playing the lead in Marc Price's follow up feature Magpie,[1] war film The 95th,[2] British comedy Convenience[3] alongside Vicky McClure and Adeel Akhtar, Noel Clarke's The Anomaly starring Brian Cox, playing the title role in Eider Steeps and in Amit Gupta's Nothing Like This alongside Ray Panthaki and Dan Skinner. In 2008–2009 Craig featured as the recurring character Detective Inspector Mark Gascoyne in 21 episodes of the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.[4] Craig has his own YouTube comedy series Grave Danger with Dave Granger in which he plays survival expert Dave Granger. In 2011, Hiking Holidays with Dave Granger was nominated for best comedy short at the Cofilmic Comedy Festival.[5]
Writing and producing
As a writer and producer, his short film Just the 2 of Us was premiered at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood in 2011.[6]
Personal life
In 2011 Craig married former Casualty actress Kate Edney and lives in Kent.
