Coventry Phoenix is the name of Coventry's only female ice hockey team. The team was established in 2003, and currently competes in Division One (North) of the British Women's Leagues.[1] They play out of the SkyDome Arena, in city centre Coventry, the same venue as the Coventry Blaze men's professional ice hockey teams.

History

The Phoenix had their best season ever in 2013/14 finishing runners up to Whitley Bay. They made their first appearance at the women's playoffs in Sheffield losing 1-0 to the eventual winner, Swindon Top Cats, in the Semi Final. They then beat Cardiff to finish a credible 3rd overall.

They have an ethos of getting women involved at whatever level and then working with them until they are proficient enough to play in League Games. With very new players all the way through to seasoned veterans who have donned the GB shirt it is a great place to learn. The Club ran a serious of Learn to Play sessions in the summer of 2014 and plan to do more in 2015. It is free thanks to funding and kit is available to loan until you buy your own.
