Coventry Greyhounds

Coventry Greyhounds [1] is a greyhound racing organisation. It re-opened in May 2012 and the race meetings take place at Brandon Stadium located in Coventry on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The greyhounds at Brandon originally opened on 19 September 1978, fourteen years after the closure of the north-east Coventry track at Lythalls Lane due to redevelopment as a housing estate. The owners of the Coventry track at the time also owned the Brandon Speedway Stadium home of the Coventry Bees and always had plans to bring greyhounds there despite the gap.

The prestigious Eclipse Stakes which had switched to Kings Heath in Birmingham after the Lythalls Lane closure returned to Coventry in 1978.[2]

The greyhound operation lasted until 2009 when it was closed but has since re-opened.[3]
