Corruption in Uzbekistan

Corruption in Uzbekistan remains a serious problem. There are laws in place to prevent corruption, but the enforcement is very weak. Low number of prosecution of corruption committed by officials is another fact contributing to the rampant corruption in the country. It is not a criminal offence for a non-public official to influence the discretion of a public official. The judicial system faces severe functional deficits due to limited resources and corruption.[1]
