Cookies by Design, formerly Cookie Bouquet, is a producer of customizable cookies and baked goods solely in the United States. Founded in 1983 by Gwen Willhite and based in Plano, Texas, the company's first franchise opened in 1987. In 2004, parent company MGW Group announced that their 250 Cookie Bouquet "shoppes" would begin operating under the name Cookies by Design in order to better reflect the variety of products sold. Cookies by Design now has approximately 240 franchise locations in 218 cities, making it one of the largest gourmet cookie retailers in the US.
The concept was acquired by an investment group in December 2007.[1]
