Cooch Behar II (community development block) is an administrative division in Cooch Behar Sadar subdivision of Cooch Behar district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Koch Bihar police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Pundibari. There is one census town in this block: Khagrabari.[1][2]

Khagrabari, one of the constituent panchayats of the block, is located at 26°22′N 89°28′E / 26.36°N 89.46°E.

Gram panchayats of Cooch Behar II block/ panchayat samiti are: Ambari, Baneswar, Bararangras, Chakchaka, Dhandhingguri, Gopalpur, Khagrabari, Khapaidanga, Madhupur, Marichbari Kholta, Patlakhawa, Pundibari and Takagachh Rajarhat.[3]

Demographics

As per 2001 census, Cooch Behar II block had a total population of 298,163, out of which 154,011 were males and 144,152 were females. Cooch Behar II block registered a population growth of 16.08 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 14.15 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[4]

Lliteracy

Cooch Behar II block had a literacy rate of 74.56 per cent - males 83.12 per cent and females 65.37 per cent.[3]
