Constantin Valentin Budescu (born 19 February 1989 in Urziceni) is a Romanian footballer who plays as a attacking midfielder or forward for Astra Giurgiu.

Club career

Petrolul Ploiesti

In 2007, Budescu made his debut in Liga II for Petrolul Ploiești, as a junior player for the club. Gradually, he imposed himself as a regular team member. Budescu evolved greatly as a player and attracted the attention of major Liga I clubs, including Rapid București, FC Timișoara and FC Brașov. In 2009, following the transfer of Laurentiu Marinescu to Unirea Urziceni, he took over the number 10 jersey.

Astra Giurgiu

In 2011, he signed a contract with Astra Ploiești, later renamed Astra Giurgiu. On 21 July 2013, Budescu scored his first Liga I hat-trick in the away win (4-0) against Viitorul Constanța, becoming the first goalscorer of Liga I.[1] At the first Europa League qualification of Astra, in the return match against Omonia Nicosia (1-2) on 25 July 2013, he scored two goals, qualifying the club in the third qualifying round, although the giurgiuveans were outnumbered against Cypriots. After this, he was nicknamed the "Hero of Nicosia". [2]

International career

Budescu made his national debut for Romania B in a 1-4 friendly defeat against Poland in February 2013.
