Communicology

The University of Hawaii at Manoa describes communicology as the study of communication from a social scientific point of view.[1] It is distinct from other fields such as communication studies, which is more focused on communication media, or neurolinguistics, which is focused on the neurobiology of language.

Communicology is related to psychology in its focus on cognitive schemas associated with language use.[2]
