Comal Independent School District
Comal Independent School District is a public school district based in New Braunfels, Texas (USA).
The district covers 589 square miles (1,530 km2) in five central Texas counties - Comal, Bexar, Hays, Kendall, and Guadalupe. Incorporated communities in the district include Bulverde, Garden Ridge, and portions of New Braunfels. The unincorporated communities of Canyon Lake, Fischer, Sattler, Spring Branch, and Timberwood Park also lie within the district.
In 2009, the school district was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]
Carter Casteel, a teacher for Comal ISD from 1973 to 1982, was a district trustee from 1984 to 1990, county judge from 1991 to 1998, and the District 73 state representative from 2003 to 2007. She is an attorney in New Braunfels.
