"Coalmine'" is an uptempo fiddle-driven song written by Roxie Dean, Ron Harbin and Richie McDonald, and recorded by American country music artist Sara Evans. It was released in April 2006 as the third single from her album Real Fine Place.

Content

The song is an upbeat song about a woman who loves her man, a coal miner, and wants him to love her until he's got to work again.

Chart performance

Evans had had two big hits from her album "Real Fine Place" with A Real Fine Place To Start and Cheatin', both of which had charted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The song was expected to be a major hit as well. However, earlier in 2006, an explosion at Sago Mine, West Virginia, had trapped thirteen miners and all but one had died. The release of "Coalmine" didn't seem very appropriate to radio programmers and the song stalled on charts, only peaking at #37.[1]
