Clifford David (born June 30, 1938) is an American actor. He is recognized for his Broadway, film and television performances.
Early life
Clifford David was born on June 30, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio.
Career
Clifford David was featured in the principal casts and on the original studio albums of such Broadway musicals as Wildcat with Lucille Ball, 1776 with William Daniels, Alan Jay Lerner's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Other theater credits also include The Aspern Papers, Camino Real with Al Pacino, Joan of Arc with Dorothy McGuire, and Nine with Raul Julia. He appeared in Joseph Papp's production of Hamlet in Central Park and has starred in various regional theater productions.
His feature film credits include M. Night Shyamalan's Signs with Mel Gibson, The Exorcist III with George C. Scott & Jason Miller, Fort Apache, The Bronx with Paul Newman and The Betsy with Laurence Olivier and he portrayed Beethoven in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
Television viewers have seen him in productions ranging from the miniseries Blind Ambition, to political dramas Fear on Trial, and Missiles of October, to episodic dramas and comedies such as Bonanza, Charlie's Angels, Mary Tyler Moore, Murphy Brown, Party of Five, Murder, She Wrote, Will & Grace and Law & Order.
Clifford directed and co-starred with Tommy Perna in the short film Changes of Distance.
