Clearwater Analytics is an international investment portfolio reporting and analytics software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider. Clearwater provides investment accounting, performance, compliance, and risk reporting for corporations, insurance companies, asset managers, banks, governments, and other institutions.[1] Clearwater is a privately held company headquartered in Boise, Idaho, with offices in New York City and Edinburgh, U.K.[2]

History

Clearwater was founded in 2004 and has grown to become a leading software and analytics company in Idaho. In 2013, Clearwater contributed funds to Boise State University’s computer science program and has sponsored the department’s students.[3] [4] Clearwater was also a platinum sponsor of Boise Code Camp 2014, a free community education event on prevailing tech topics.[5] In 2013, it was named U.S. Captive’s Technology Firm of the Year, and Innovative Company of the Year in the 2012 Idaho Innovation Awards.

In December of 2013, Clearwater announced their agreement with the Gardner Co. to help finance a new nine-story building in downtown Boise, planning to double their current space up to 90,000 square feet.[6]

Products and services

Clearwater Analytics is a SaaS firm that provides investment accounting and reporting software. The solution automates investment accounting, monitors investment policy compliance, and analyzes portfolio performance and risk.[7] To access Clearwater, users log on through a secure website. Clients are supported by a highly trained client services team based in Clearwater's Boise office.

Clearwater also supplies corporate cash asset allocation data for the Wall Street Journal’s CFO Journal, as its clientele in this market represent 20% of U.S. corporate cash assets.[8] Additionally, Clearwater publishes its own free webinars, white papers, market insight papers, and case studies about relevant industry topics.

Clientele

Clearwater Analytics reports on over $1 trillion in assets.[9] Clients hail from the insurance, tech, corporate, healthcare, and online industries. Notable clients include Starbucks, Facebook, Cisco Systems, SanDisk, the Warranty Group, and United Heritage Insurance.

Staff

The management team at Clearwater Analytics is composed of three chief officers, all of whom are founding members of the company. David Boren serves as CEO, Michael Boren as COO, and Douglas Bates as CFO.[10] Both David and Douglas had extensive careers with Goldman Sachs before founding Clearwater.
