Claude Alphonse Simard (July 9, 1943 – September 15, 2014) was a Canadian painter born in Quebec City.^[1]

Simard's works depicted garden scenes, landscapes, still lifes and the human figure in a bright and boldly colored manner.

Biography

• Graduated Ontario College of Art (Design) 1966
• Apprenticeship British Motor Corporation, England, 1965
• Elected Royal Canadian Academy of Arts,^[2] 1981
• Founding member of Quebec Graphic Designers Society and author of Society’s Code of Ethics
• Head of Design (Image and Store Design) La Maison Simons stores 1966-1973
• President Communikart Design Group 1973-1984
• Professor Laval University, 1984–2001

• Over 60 silk screen prints editioned since 1975
• Card editions by Unicef, Hallmark, L’Imagerie, et Cartes Pôle Nord.
• Seven postage stamps for Canada Post.
