Clarkston High School (Washington)
Charles Francis Adams High School, locally referred to as Clarkston High School or CHS, is a four-year public high school located near downtown Clarkston, Washington. The school has a population of 800-850 students, over 100 staff members, and holds grades 9-12.
Clarkston High School's mission statement is as follows: "In order that the students of today be ready for the challenges of citizenship tomorrow, Clarkston High School will encourage and empower students to take pride, responsibility, and ownership in seeking their highest personal and academic achievement in a safe, positive, creative environment." The school administration also uses the acronym PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In Daily Effort) to encourage students to take accountability of their actions and remember that only the students alone can control their motivations.
CHS's mascot is the mighty Bantam. The school colors are red, black and white. CHS's rivals are the Lewiston Bengals, from Lewiston High School, immediately across the Snake River from Clarkston, in the State of Idaho. Part of their rivalry includes the Golden Throne competition that takes place every January. The schools compete against each other to raise money for charity through a week-long competition called Spirit Links, where for a small amount one can buy a paper link of a chain which represents how much money each particular school raises. There is also a basketball game at the end of the week, where sportsmanship determines the winner of the "Golden Throne"- a glitter-gold toilet mounted on a platform. Whoever wins the Throne gets to display it at their school for the rest of the year.
Activities
Clarkston High School offers a variety of sports, clubs and activities for students to participate in throughout the school year. Sports offered in the fall include: cross country, football, girl's swim, girl's soccer and volleyball. Winter sports include: boy's basketball, girl's basketball and wrestling. Spring sports include: baseball, softball, tennis, track and boy's soccer.

- AFJROTC,(Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), which is for those considering or interested in pursuing a military career.
- Science Olympiad, which is for students interested in science knowledge, hands-on and engineering competition.
- Cheerleading, which is for students interested in cheering, stunts and tumbling at school sports games.
- Colorguard/Winterguard, which are the flag-spinning teams.
- Student Council, which is for students interested in learning leadership skills while working with the school administration.

CHS also participates yearly in the national Junior Miss scholarship program, in which eleventh-grade level girls are eligible to participate.
Awards
Clarkston High School was awarded the 2008 State Superintendent's Learning Improvement Award, along with 97 other elementary-, middle-, high- and alternative schools, out of approximately 2,500 schools in Washington state. Progress was measured by the scores of six years of data from the Washington Assessment of Student Learning, or the WASL.[1] Clarkston also won the Golden Throne girls basketball game and spirit competition, but were outplayed by the Bengals during the boys game where seniors Ben "Butt-Cake" Havens, Frank "Fanny" McStuffins, and James Rustler lead their team to a win over the Clarkston Bantams.
