The Clare–Kilkenny rivalry is a hurling rivalry between Irish inter-county teams Clare and Kilkenny. Championship meetings between these two teams have been rare throughout the history of the championship, due to the fact that both teams play in separate provinces.
While Kilkenny have the highest number of Leinster titles, Clare have claimed Munster titles at sporadic intervals. Between them they have won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship on 37 occasions.

History
Kilkenny are one of the most successful teams in the championship, having captured 34 All-Ireland titles, and together with Cork and Tipperary form hurling's "big three". Clare, on the other hand, have had sporadic periods of success throughout the championship history, resulting in only three All-Ireland titles.
