Cláudio César Correa Cañiza (born 3 May 1993) is a Paraguayan professional footballer who plays as a striker for Rubio Ñu, on loan from Sol de América.

Club career

Claudio Correa joined Benfica on 11 July 2012, from Club Rubio Ñu on a five-year deal, from an undisclosed fee.[1]

In 11 August 2012, Correa made his debut with Benfica B in a 2012–13 Segunda Liga match against Braga B where he entered at the 72 minute, replacing Djaniny as a striker.[2] The following matches, he gain the starting position as main striker.[3][4]

In February 2013, Correa returned to Sportivo Luqueño on loan until the end of the season.[5]

On 30 May 2014, Benfica disclosed the sale of Correa to investment firm Master International FZC.[6] On 22 July 2014, he joined Club Sol de América[7] where he played the whole season, before being loaned to Rubio Ñu, for a second time.

International career

Correa was in the Squad for the 2011 South American Youth Championship where he played in the 3 games and scored a goal. The most notable event was when he assaulted an Referee and was suspended 1 year from March 2011 to March 2012 from internacional matches. Since Paraguay U20 didn't qualify for 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup or the 2012 Summer Olympics, and Club Rubio Ñu didn't qualify for CONMEBOL competitions, the suspension had little practical effect. After that he was suspended again 4 games for red card in game of Club Rubio Ñu.[8][9][10]
