City Furniture is a Florida based furniture retailer with 15 locations in Florida. The company is headquartered in Tamarac, Florida in Broward County.[1] The company converted its older stores into Ashley Furniture HomeStores, a Wisconsin-based brand City Furniture is franchising in South Florida.[1]
The company constructed a "green" superstore in Boca Raton, Florida.[2]
Kevin Koenig established the company's predecessor as a retailer of waterbeds. Other furnishings were added and the business was joined by younger brother Keith and his friends Mike Lennon, Garry Ikola, and Steve Wilder. As waterbed industry momentum faded, the first City Furniture opened in August 1994. Existing Waterbed City stores were converted into City Furniture stores.
