Christopher Matthew Avalos (born November 5, 1989 in Lancaster, California) is a Mexican American boxer in the Bantamweight division and is the current WBO NABO Bantamweight Champion.[1]
Professional career
WBO NABO Championship
On April 24, 2010 Avalos stopped the veteran John Alberto Molina to win the WBO NABO Bantamweight Championship.[2]
In August 2010, Christopher lost to the an undefeated Christopher Martin Peña at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota. The bout was televised on a Showtime undercard.[3]
In February 2015 Avalos was defeated in the 5th round by Carl Frampton in Belfast challenging him for the IBF World Super Bantamweight championship. After weeks of saying he would defeat Frampton easily he ended up on ITV in front of millions of people in an oxygen mask.
