Christian Fellowship in Richmond is a church that meets at Halford House, a Grade II[1] listed building in Halford Road, in the centre of Richmond, south-west London.[2]
Building
Halford House, originally an 18th-century manor house with 19th century additions,[1] was purchased by the Fellowship in 1954.[2] It previously housed the Richmond School of Music.[1] The Fellowship also bought the adjoining former British Red Cross Hall in 2002.[3]
The earliest parts of Halford House date from 1710.[4] The rest was built in 1745, with additions in 1867 at the back of the house.[4]
Activities
The Fellowship's main meeting, which includes worship, communion and Bible study, is at Halford House on Sundays at 10.30am. Children meet together in separate classes. Other activities in the house include a mid-week course explaining the Christian faith, prayer meetings, youth evenings and a mothers-and-toddlers group. Meetings are also held informally in private homes.[2]
Nepal Leprosy Trust
The Christian Fellowship in Richmond has had links with Nepal since the 1950s when Eileen Lodge, a British nurse, emigrated to Nepal to work with the International Nepal Fellowship. In 1972 she founded the Nepal Leprosy Trust (NLT), which is now a UK-based Christian agency providing services to people affected by leprosy in Nepal.[5] It is a member of the Make Poverty History campaign.
The Christian Fellowship in Richmond hosts a weekly Nepal Leprosy Trust prayer meeting and provides space for the NLT UK head office. Current and former church members provide the majority of the NLT UK office team.[6]
