Christian Blanc (born 17 May 1942 in Talence, Gironde) is a French politician.
He was a member of the Saint-Simon Foundation think-tank. Blanc was elected to the National Assembly to represent the third district of Yvelines on 15 December 2002, replacing Anne-Marie Idrac, who had stood down to on nomination to become president of the RATP. He was a member of the UDF, and a supporter of the presidential candidacy of Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2007 presidential election and then member of the new Nouveau Centre.
On March 16, 2008, he failed in the French local elections to become the mayor of Le Chesnay, a wealthy west suburb of Paris. Two days later, he was appointed Secretary of State of Région Capitale ("Greater Paris"), a new position in the French Government of François Fillon.
In June 2010, he is a part of the ministers involved in a series of scandals related to their expenses deemed lavish by the medias. The Canard Enchaîné revealed first that his tax position is subject to scrutiny by the tax, so usually the fiscal situation of Ministers is be reviewed and corrected if necessary, upon taking office. Shortly after, he was criticized for making purchase in the budget of his department for € 12,000 cigars in ten months, it was finally resolved, at the direction of François Fillon, to be repaid in full. He announced his resignation from the government July 4, 2010.
