Choi Sungmin (Hangul: 최성민, born on December 7, 1995 in South Korea), better known as simply Sungmin, is a singer, dancer, rapper and an actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy group SPEED.

Biography

Sungmin attended Plug-in Music Middle School and entered Joy Dance Academy.

Sungmin was scouted after he made an appearance on SBS's variety show Star King, after showing a powerful and amazing dance skills. After being recruited into Core Contents Media, he was announced as the 10th member of Coed School [1] and debuted when he was 14 years old.

Sungmin and his labelmate Hyewon of Coed School & F-ve Dolls continued their education at Anyang High School of Art and graduated on February 7, 2014.[2]

Career

Coed School (2010)

Sungmin debuted on September 29, 2010 with the single "Too Late". Their mini album Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh, was released on October 28, 2010. It features three previously released songs and various remixes. Until now, only Sungmin, Jungwoo, and the former leader Taewoon remains as the original members of the group.

2012 - Present: SPEED

SPEED first released their male cover of T-ara's single "Lovey Dovey," which they entitled "Lovey Dovey Plus."[3]

They made their official debut on January 17, 2013, with the song "It's Over". The 15-minute drama music video for their debut track was based on the Gwangju May 18 massacres and features actors such as Park Bo-young, Ji Chang-wook, Ha Seok-jin and A Pink's Naeun.[4][5][6] "It's Over" is an electronic dance song with R&B sounds. [7][8]

Acting Career

Sungmin made his acting debut in the KBS Drama Special "Something Like That", also known as "That Kind of Relationship" [9]
