China Information (subtitled A Journal on Contemporary China Studies) is a triannual peer-reviewed academic journal that was established in 1986. It was originally published by the Documentation and Research Centre for Contemporary China (Leiden University), but since 2004, it has been published by Sage Publications. The founding editor-in-chief was Woei Lien Chong. The journal has been under the editorship of Tak-Wing Ngo (University of Macao) since 2002.
Scope
The journal focuses on recent developments in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other Chinese communities in the fields of economics, politics, law, education and health, environment, literature, cultural studies, and the arts. In addition to publishing articles on social science topics, the journal also covers legal studies, geography, and city planning. The journal also contains a book review section with reviews of recently published books not only in the English-speaking world but also in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, France, and the German-speaking areas. Each year the journal organizes a special thematic issue on topics which have hitherto been neglected or which represent newly emerging research areas.
