Chilo infuscatellus, the Yellow top borer or Sugarcane shoot borer, is a moth in the Crambidae family. It was described by Snellen in 1890. It is found in India, Myanmar,[1] Tadzhikistan, Afghanistan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines and on Java and Timor.[2]
The larvae feed on Avena sativa, Cymbopogon winterianus, Cynodon dactylon, Cyperus rotundus, Echinochloa colona, Hordeum vulgare, Oryza sativa, Panicum species, Pennisetum glaucum, Saccharum officinarum, Sorghum bicolor and Zea mays. Young larvae eat small holes in the leaves. When older, the larvae bore into the stems.[3]
