Childress Vineyards
Childress Vineyards is a winery owned by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship team owner Richard Childress in northern Lexington, North Carolina (which is part of Davidson County, North Carolina).
This vineyard commenced operations in 2003. The vineyard is located in the Yadkin Valley AVA, an American Viticultural Area. Winemaker Mark Friszolowski who has won the North Carolina Best in Show and Double Gold Governor's Cup Award four times. Grapes are grown locally on the vineyard grounds, at Childress' home estate, as well as are purchased from local growers. Varieties include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Muscadine, among others. They also produce their own sparkling wine using the Champenoise Méthode as well as three different dessert wines. The vineyards are located at the intersection of U.S. Route 52 and U.S. Route 64 in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The Vineyard is open daily and includes a tasting room and gift shop that Wine Enthusiast magazine awarded as one of the top 25 tasting rooms in America, as well as complimentary tours and an Italian style Bistro open for lunch.
Childress Vineyards also holds special events including weddings and corporate functions, as well as free entertainment during the spring and fall. [1]

Childress Vineyards is a primary sponsor of the annual Lexington Barbecue Festival[2] held in October each year.
Childress Vineyards is also a featured beverage at the 2011 Taste of North Carolina, which promotes North Carolina foods, beers and wines.
