Chicken Island (Tasmania)

Chicken Island is a low, flat, 1.95 ha island in south-eastern Australia. It is part of the Maatsuyker Island Group, lying close to the southern end of the south-western coast of Tasmania. It is part of the Southwest National Park, and thus within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Site.[1][2]

Flora and fauna

The vegetation is dominated by Sarcocornia quinqueflora and Senecio pinnatifolius. Recorded breeding seabird and wader species are the little penguin, short-tailed shearwater, fairy prion, common diving-petrel, Pacific gull, silver gull, sooty oystercatcher and Caspian tern.[1]
