Chiang Mai Rajabhat University

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University is a university in the north of Thailand. It is under the Royal Thai Ministry of Education. The university was founded in 1924 as an agricultural teacher training college. In 1948, it became Chiang Mai Teachers College and offered majors in a variety of subjects. On February 14, 1982, the year of King Rama IX's sixtieth birthday, His Majesty proclaimed Thailand's 36 teacher's colleges to be Rajabhat Institutes; they then began offering majors and degree programmes in non-teaching fields. On March 6, 1985, His Majesty the King graciously granted the use of his royal crest as the Rajabhat Institute emblem. Rajabhat Institute Chiang Mai became Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in 2004.

Enrolment is about 30,000, and classes are divided into regular, evening and weekends. Most students come from secondary schools in northern Thailand, some even from remote areas. Chiang Mai Rajabhat University is thus a community institute which provides a comprehensive education for local students and working people.

There are five faculties, one graduate school, one international college and one autonomous institute, employing about 500 faculty members.

There are four campuses:

Wieng Boa, the main campus, is on Chang Puek Road, in the center of Chiang Mai.
Mae Sa, the campus of Faculty of Management Science, is in Mae Rim District, 10 kilometers from Chiang Mai.
Sa Luang (2,320 acres), campus of the Agricultural Center, is in Mae Rim District, 27 kilometers from Chiang Mai.
Mae Hong Son campus, in Mae Hong Son, is the center for external services in education.

Faculties

Faculty of Education

This faculty includes the Teaching Practicum Center, a Special Education Center and a Demonstration School for research and teaching profession resources. Presentations of local culture and academic services to communities are included in the faculty.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Science

The faculty aims to educate graduates to have good moral character and ro instill excellent academic abilities by means of participatory learning processes, research and information technology. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese language programs under the cooperation with international universities are offered, including student and teacher exchange programs.

Faculty of Science and Technology

The faculty trains graduates in sciences and applied sciences, emphasizing effective use of technology and good moral character to assist in the development of local communities. The Science Center is a study center for local communities.

Faculty of Management Science

The Science faulty trains students in business management, economics, accounting, management science and public relations to facilitate necessary skills, knowledge, and professional ability in the business community.

Faculty of Agricultural Technology

The faulty provides education in agriculture sciences. Participatory projects, participatory learning processes and research in agricultural areas are incorporated into the creation of practical application in local communities

Graduate School

The graduate programs were established in 1995 to develop the potential of educators and members of the public and private sectors. The program supports community and national development

International College

CMRU’s International College (IC) is an academic institute that produces high quality graduates who are capable of applying their knowledge in national and international environments for the betterment of mankind. IC provides three undergraduate programs: B.A. Business English, B.A. English, and B.B.A. International Business.

Asian Institute for Community Economy and Technology

adiCET is the leading institution in Asia which functions as a research and development institution for the well-being of the society by using green technologies. adiCET will participate in solving crisis of the national and global economies, natural resources, energy, and the deteriorating environment. The institution offers M.S. and Ph.D degrees in community economy and technology development as well as a Post Doctoral Research program. adiCET campus is on Chiang Mai Green City (CMGC).
