Chex Quest 2: Flemoids Take Chextropolis was released in 1997, after the release of the cereal box promotional game Chex Quest, and was available exclusively from the official Chex Quest website. Free downloads of this game can still be found on various Chex Quest fansites to this day. It is an add-on to the original, as the first Chex Quest is required to play it.
Plot
The Chex Warrior returns to his home planet and lands in Chex City only to discover that the Flemoid threat has reached his homeworld. Grabbing his zorcher, he races to the rescue of his beloved home. He battles through a spaceport (an Earthed space station), a cinema (A movie theater showing 3 looping movies.), a museum (A museum of art, history, and culture.), and the city (Chextropolis) until he reaches the sewers, where he faces The Maximus.
Development
Upon the huge success of the initial release of the first Chex Quest game, originally released in Chex Cereal boxes, the team quickly put together 5 new levels and released them on the official Chex Quest website.
Critical Reaction
Fans of the first game seemed to love the game and it was largely regarded as a faithful sequel.
Sequels
After the website shut down, the game could only be found as shareware online, but two of the original programmers and artists, Charles Jacobi and Scott Holman, began working on Chex Quest 3, which was released in 2008 as a free download on Charles' online portfolio.
