Chesapeake Bay Academy (founded in 1989) in Virginia Beach, Virginia is an independent coeducational day school. It is the only K-12 school in southeastern Virginia licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools for students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) and Other Health Impairments (OHI).

In late October 1989, sixty parents were notified that the school their children attended was going to close. At a meeting two days later, a consensus arose that the parents must perpetuate a place for their children to receive the specialized teaching they required. Some parents volunteered to steer the new school, and, under the leadership of Keith Bangel, Chesapeake Bay Academy was founded.

Now celebrating its 20th year, the school has served over 1000 families, graduated ten classes from the 12th grade, built and occupied a three-story, 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2)., state-of-the-art building, achieved Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) accreditation, and launched The Dominion Education Center to provide supplemental services to additional families throughout Hampton Roads.

The Chesapeake Bay Academy provides a very wide and selective art program. This includes drawing, painting, collage, two-dimensional design, pattern and motif, abstraction, textiles, sculpture, and mixed media, The school also has an art club that meets every Thursday.
