Cheryl Yang (simplified Chinese: 杨谨华; traditional Chinese: 楊謹華; pinyin: Yáng Jǐn Huá) is a Taiwanese actress. She was born on December 12, 1977. She joined the entertainment scene at the age of 14 when she filmed her first commercial. Cheryl officially joined the entertainment industry in November, 2001. Not long after she started her career, she had filmed a music video together with Andy Lau, whom was one of the most famous artist in the entertainment industry and also a Mode Marie lingerie commercial which made her become the center of attention in the industry. She rose to prominence when she filmed the Taiwanese drama, My Queen in 2009 with actor Ethan Juan.

Cheryl was born in Taiwan. She is the oldest sibling in her family and has a younger brother.

Career

Pre-debut

When Cheryl was 15, she agreed to star in film commercials even though she was still studying, even eventually filming a music video together with Andy Lau and when she was 18. Cheryl was also in a girl band,but during that time there were not many opportunities for them to perform and eventually the band was disbanded when the company that signed her closed down. Cheryl then officially joined the showbiz as an actress in November, 2001.

Acting

Although Cheryl had filmed many dramas like "Poor Prince", "My Secret Garden" and "Snow Angel" but she rose to prominence when she filmed the Taiwanese drama, My Queen in 2009 as the lead actress. To improve on her acting skills, she went to New York Film Academy in 2006 for one month and filmed the drama "Love Queen" after she returned to Taiwan.

Cheryl had then been in several dramas as the lead actress such as "Zhong Wu Yen" in 2010, "Happy Michelin Kitchen" in 2011. In 2012, she starred in "Once Upon a Love" with actor "Sunny Wang". On July 8, 2012, "Once Upon a Love" aired its first episode. In 2014, Cheryl was nominated as the Best Leading Actress in a Television Series at the 49th Golden Bell Awards for her role in "The Birth Of The Queen".
