Cheriton Is a small village and civil parish located near the city of Winchester, in Hampshire, England. The settlement is perhaps most famous for being close to the location of the Battle of Cheriton in the English Civil War in 1644. Cheriton is also the Source of the River Itchen. The village comprises two distinct sections: Cheriton and New Cheriton which is situated half a mile distant from the main village beside the A272

Facilities and Services

Cheriton boasts a number of services and facilities including two pubs, and a local store that contains a sub-post office. The local pub, The Flower Pots Inn brews its own beer and has won numerous awards for brewing over the past twenty years as attested to by the certificates adorning its walls. The community also enjoys the village hall, tennis courts and cricket pitches which offer a quintessentially English country scene..

The church dates from the 12th century and is dedicated to St Michael and All Angels. The professional wrestler Sean Waltman originally wrestled as "The Cheriton Cherubim" back in 1991, although he has never visited the area.
