Charleston Forge

Charleston Forge is a hand-crafted metal and wooden furniture manufacturer in Boone, North Carolina. Based in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charleston Forge's artisans use a combination of traditional blacksmithing techniques and new technologies. The furniture maker uses steel pieces prepared using various techniques with wood, glass and other materials, and sells its high-end furniture in the US and Canada.

The company was started in 1984 by Art and Susan Barber. At its very first High Point Furniture Market in October 1984, Charleston Forge’s offering included just five pieces of furniture. Since then, the company has grown considerably, currently offering more than 260 products, including dining and occasional tables, consoles, chairs, bar stools, baker’s racks, benches, mirrors, and beds. Everything is still handmade at the company’s Boone, NC factory by its 40 employees. Almost all of the company’s vendors are located within 100 miles of Boone.

The company sells through a nationwide network of retailers and designers, the company prides itself on the quality of its product, the wide variety of styles it offers, and the fact that it is American-made. The company is also a choice manufacturer for many designers, architects, and specifiers because of its ability to customize its products, and they offer the opportunity to develop a customer’s own original creation.
