Chandlings School is an independent co-educational preparatory school at Bagley Wood near Kennington, a village south of Oxford. Prior to 2007, it was known as Chandlings Manor School.
The school was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in November 2006, with the conclusion that it "provides a well-integrated, broad and stimulating education for its pupils."[1]
History
Chandlings was founded as a co-educational day-school in 1994 by the governors of Cothill House to complement the preparatory boys’ boarding education offered at Cothill. The relatively close proximity of Chandlings, in rural surroundings near Oxford, and Cothill enables the two schools to share bursarial and grounds staff.[2]
Cothill Education Trust
The school is run by Cothill Education Trust, an educational charity registered in England,[3] which also operates a number of preparatory schools all across England and in France.
Structure
Chandlings consists of a Pre-Prep department, which consists of the Early Years programme for pupils in the Foundation Stage up to Year 2 and the Prep department (Years 3-6).
Houses
As of Autumn term 2012 Chandlings consists of three houses: Richardson (house colour: red), Astley (house colour: dark blue) and Poltimore (house colour: green).
