Chandigarh district is a city district in the UT of Chandigarh. There are 14 villages in Chandigarh district. There is one Zilla Parishad at district level, one Panchyat Samiti at block level and 12 Gram Panchayats at village levels.[1]

They are at Village Khuda Jassu, Lahora, Behlana, Kaimbala, Sarangpur, Raipur Khurd, Raipur Kalan and Makhammujra, Mauli Jagran, Kishangarh, Dhanas, Khuda Alisher, Dadu Majra and Daria.

Chandigarh district occupies an area of 114 square kilometres (44 sq mi).[2]

Demographics

According to the 2011 census Chandigarh district has a population of 1,054,686,[3] roughly equal to the nation of Cyprus[4] or the US state of Rhode Island.[5] This gives it a ranking of 431st in India (out of a total of 640).[3] The district has a population density of 9,252 inhabitants per square kilometre (23,960/sq mi) .[3] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 17.1%.[3] Chandigarh has a sex ratio of 818 females for every 1000 males,[3] and a literacy rate of 86.43%.[3]
