Chandanamazha (English: Sandal Rain) is an Indian soap opera on the Malayalam language channel Asianet, starring Meghna Vincent as Amrita and Shalu Kurian as Varsha , as main protogonists . The series launched on February 3, 2014. Chandanamzha is the remake of the Hindi Serial Saath Nibhaana Saathiya .

Synopsis

Chandanamazha is based on the Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law relationship retold through a young and native girl Amrita's point of view. It is the story of Amrita and Varsha who are cousins. The story begins with Urmila Desai search for the perfect bride for her son, Arjun. She wants a native girl for her son and finds that Amrita would make a perfect daughter-in-law for her and a dutiful wife for Arjun. Although she is illiterate, Amrita is a kind, generous and loyal girl who will make any effort for her family and her husband's success and happiness. Amrita, who is married to Arjun Desai, is often taken advantage of, due to her native attitude.

Varsha is the very opposite of Amrita. She is beautiful, outspoken and knows very well about her rights. She dreams of marrying into a rich and living a luxurious life and believes that her dreams will come true. She is strong willed and believes that her dreams will come true. She is now married to Abhishek Desai. Varsha and her mother will go out of their ways to destroy Amrita's relationship with Arjun.
