Chalchicomula of Sesma is a municipality in the Mexican state of Puebla. It is located in the eastern federal state, borders the state of Veracruz. Its municipal seat is Ciudad Serdan (formerly St. Andres Chalchicomula). The name of the municipality is of Nahuatl origin and comes from the words chalchihuitl = chalchihuite [2] = xomulli hollow, hole, y-llan = suffix of location. Therefore means in the hollow or pit of the emeralds.
Its geographical coordinates are 18° 59′ North, and 97° 27′ West. Its average altitude is 2,520 m above sea level.
