Ceratocystis moniliformis is a saprobe that has not been shown to cause disease on plants. It is part of the C. moniliformis species complex within the greater Ceratocystis genus. Species classified within this complex are generally non-pathogenic, with the exception of C. bhutanensis. Species of this complex are almost always found on newly wounded trees and timber.
