Catholic University of Leuven

Catholic University of Leuven or Catholic University of Louvain can refer to three educational institutions in the town of Leuven (Louvain) or Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium:

• The Catholic University of Leuven (1834–1968), which existed from 1834 to 1968 when it split along linguistic lines.
• The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), the present-day Dutch-speaking university based in Leuven.
• The Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), the present-day French-speaking university based in Louvain-la-Neuve.

It can also refer to two other historical institutions:

• Old University of Leuven (1425–1797), of which the later Catholic University of Leuven controversially claimed to be a successor
• State University of Leuven (1817–1835)
