Caterpillar is the first of two simultaneous releases (along with Butterfly) by The Tokey Tones, released by Lil' Chief Records in 2003. The cover art for both albums was designed by noted Auckland artist Tanya Thompson, otherwise known as Misery. The song "Love Done Me No Good" is a duet between Scott Mannion and Heather Mansfield of The Brunettes.
