Carnival Vista is a cruise ship being built for Carnival Cruise Lines which will be delivered in April 2016.[6] The Carnival Vista is going to have all FunShip 2.0 features plus more. The ship will have Carnival Multiplex which has the first IMAX movie theater at sea. The Vista will also have Skyride, a larger SportsSquare, The Havana Bar and Pool, new style staterooms and much more. The ship's maiden voyage is set to embark on May 1, 2016 from Trieste, Italy on a 13 day Europe Cruise that ends in Barcelona, Spain. The Vista is scheduled to do 8-13 day cruises from the ports of Trieste, Italy, Barcelona, Spain and Athens, Greece from May 2016 until October 21, 2016. On October 21, 2016, the ship is scheduled to depart Barcelona, Spain on a 13 day Transatlantic Reposition cruise, stopping at Gibraltar; Ponta Delgada (Azores); King's Wharf, Bermuda and ending in New York, where it will stay. Information on what the home port will be after New York are expected to be released in the coming months. The ship is currently in Dry dock and is expected to have its first float-out in June 2015 then, be in wet dock from July 2015 and at the same time, interior outfitting will be happening. Sea trial is expected to begin in January 2016.

Design and Construction

By gross tonnage, she will be the largest ship within Carnival Cruise Lines's fleet. The ship is under construction in the Fincantieri shipyard of Monfalcone (Gorizia) and will be expected to be delivered by April 2016. The first steel for the ship was cut in late February 2014, and the keel was laid in October 2014.[6] The Carnival Vista Coin Ceremony/Float out is set for June 2015. [7]

Carnival Vista will be the first Carnival cruise ship fitted with ABB Azipod propulsion units since the 2004-built Carnival Miracle.[5]

Home Port

Vista will operate an inaugural season in the Mediterranean from May to October 2016 before repositioning to New York to offer a pair of round trip cruises. She will then move to her new homeport in Miami in November 2016 where she will sail year around. She will offer 6 and 8 day Caribbean cruises with ports of call such as Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire.[8]

Features

The Carnival Vista will have outdoor spots like Havana Bar & Pool, SkyRide at SportSquare (an 800-foot-long track suspended around its top deck that passengers can circle in pedal-powered capsules[9]), and Seafood Shack plus plenty of spaces like the first IMAX at sea. The Vista has custom Cuban themed staterooms and new Family Harbor staterooms. The Clubhouse features indoor activities like mini-bowling and arcade-style basketball, soccer, volleyball and table tennis. The ship will also have SkyGreens, a mini golf course on Deck 12.
