Carmelita Maracci

Carmelita Maracci (July 17, 1908 – July 26, 1987) was a dancer and choreographer.

Her students included Paul Godkin, Donald Saddler, Allegra Kent, John Clifford, Laurie Sibbald, Geraldine Chaplin, Janet Collins, Tommy Rall, Julie Newmar, and Cynthia Gregory.

Maracci made her debut at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Auditorium on April 22, 1930. She was a major influence on the celebrated Los Angeles teacher, Irina Kosmovska (who also danced with her touring troupe) and who also taught John Clifford, Darci Kistler, Damian Woetzel, and was director of the school of Clifford's Los Angeles Ballet from 1974 - 1985.

A centennial event celebrating her birth was held on September 28, 2008 in Los Angeles.[1]
