Carlo Pittara

Carlo Pittara (1836October 25, 1890) was an Italian painter.

Biography

He died in Rivara. He was initially trained under the Swiss painter of animals, surnamed Humbert, and then under Giuseppe Camino. Pittara also painted the animals in outdoor landscapes. He traveled to Paris, and then resided for time in Rivara Canavese, where he was sponsored by the Ogliani family. There he would meet with a group of landscape painters that became known as the School of Rivara, who included Ernesto Bertea, Vittorio Avondo, Federico Pastoris, Ernesto Rayper, Alberto Issel, Serafino De Avendaño, and Alfredo d'Andrade.

He then moved to Paris for some years, and from there returned to Paris with his friend, the painter Marchetti. [1]

In 1880 at the Turin exhibition, he sent: La fiera di Saluzzo, painted in a 16th-century style; in 1883 at Milan, he displayed Animali all'abbeveratoio; in 1883 at Rome, Il pascolo; In 1884, at Turin, Mattinata musicale; Tramonto: Abbeveraggio; Partenza for the caccia; Dintorni di Parigi; at the 1885 Promotrice, Primavera; in 1886 at Milan, L' albero di Murgère (Foresta di Fontainebleau); In 1887 at Venice, Pascolo; Veduta di Auvergne; at the Promotrice of 1887, Gli attesa; at the Promotrice of 1888, La sera, and finally at the Promotrice of 1889 he displayed Pecorella.
